Other than types of food/nutrients that cause it, Asian't smaller eyes also make using the contact lens harder, especially at young ages. My son played hockey when he was little. So the pediatrician urged him to use contact lenses rather than the sports goggle, but it's so difficult for him to put the contact lenses in his eyes even though the optical assistant trained him many many times...What seemed to be a breezing job by the assistant in her own eyes was always hard for my son, not because of his lack of skills, but of his much smaller eyes :) We finally quit trying after several weeks, and now he's on his glasses even on the soccer field.
完全可以训练的好的，我们硬的OK镜都戴的进去的呢，我小的三年级开始戴的，打hockey踢足球都没有任何问题的。
What I tried to say is that the relative difficulty may have dissuaded SOME Asian kids not to wearing the contact lens but to staying with the glasses :)

父母遗传的多，我家的娃都戴OK镜，所以至少表面看起来不戴，也不影响他们玩体育

儿子也早就指出这个问题了。我想还是长期饮食结构的问题。东方饮食高蛋白少。华二代虽不缺营养，但一代人还改不过来。
以前以为是基因的原因，现在吃不准是美国课外活动多，自然光照的多，还是只是基因的原因了。
可能两者都有。
